Lines on White

While practice-driving on the freeway today, I briefly wondered for a moment what Sonic’s reaction to speed limit signs would be.

…I think the pictures explain the rest pretty well, haha.

And now we return to non-scheduled, non-drawn-ahead-of-time posts, now that I’m back from Sakuracon. This one’s just a simple black-and-white drawing of Nier, drawn using the binary tool in SAI. I wanted to just have some fun with drawing on a black background, is all, haha.I run into so much trouble drawing Nier. I feel like I always get his proportions wrong, somehow.

And finishing off the scheduled posts of original work are a pair of character designs for the same project that…well, every other image has been related to for the past three days.

The guy on the left has been present in every illustration posted, while the guy on the right’s only appeared in the illustration posted yesterday - where the two of them were fighting.

Both character designs are modified from older ones that I’ve revamped and recreated over the years, and…I really like how they both look, haha. I was surprised at how nice they turned out without adding highlights or darker colors.
And yes, if you’re getting Skies of Arcadia vibes off of the guy on the right, that’s entirely understandable and intended.

And here’s the first illustration I drew-up for that dream-based story idea, which is probably why it looks worse than the other two pieces of scenery I posted before, haha. Drawn to a remix of Emil’s theme from Nier in Drakengard 3, this…probably looks a bit like a JRPG’s final battle, more than anything else. Granted, that’s not too out of place, I guess - this was drawn as the ‘climax’ for what I had in my head.

Continuing from yesterday’s post, this drawing was the second of the scenes I drew-up.Not sure what I was thinking, regarding the landmass in the background. I considered it being the location of a town on the edge of a cliff, but…maybe it makes more sense if I look at it as an island, now. That does look like water, right? And not, like, some weird strawberry or papaya-flavored whipped cream?

Sometime last week I had a dream that revolved around a man who was determined to protect his world from being saved. He was actively trying to destroy it, more or less. As I kept reflecting on the dream, I started spinning it up into its own narrative in my head. And, well, that gave birth to a few conceptual pieces to help me visualize the sort of setting for a story based on that, haha. This drawing here is actually the latest one I made, just two days ago. I’ve been having a lot of fun drawing scenery.

SAKURA-CON IKIMAAAASU You directed a terrible commercial, Vic Mceggnoganog

Well, starting tonight I’ll be out of the house to make an easy departure for Sakuracon tomorrow, coming back home sometime Sunday night.

While I’m out, I’ve scheduled my tumblr to post several drawings I’d been working on for a personal project, so it’s almost like I’ve never even lefttt. And that oughta kick-off tomorrow sometime.

Here’s to a fun weekend and safe travels for everyone else headed-up that way (or headed down, for those further north than Seattle, haha).

So, following the trend of drawing my favorite robot masters from the different Mega Man games, my favorite from Mega Man 3 would be Gemini Man.Largely due to, well, the fact that that’s my zodiac sign. That’s probably where my attachment to Gemini Man started. Strangely, Snake Man, who shares my Chinese Zodiac’s namesake, does not evoke the same fondness that Gemini Man does.I just like Gemini man’s design and weapon better, I suppose, haha.Sure is more fun to play as him in 8-bit Deathmatch, at least.

Ahahaaa. If I entered into this drawing with an idea of what color scheme to give those robots, it would have gone by much faster.Anyhow, a lot of the stuff I’ve been preparing to have posted during my abscence later this week is scenery, but I realized none of it involved that Bee-girl I’d been drawing weeks (?) back. So…then I started sketching this last night, and finished it up today, haha.

I was wondering where I got this idea, and I don’t know.I think I can blame Cartoon Network for running those terrible live-action Scooby-Doo movies in their Spanish dub for some reason. That might partially be to blame for this.…I don’t know what kind of dog this is anymore. It was supposed to be a pomeranian, but, well, it looks more like some sort of corgi-pomeranian mix? Haha, I don’t know. What I do know is that I want tacos delivered to me from the back of a licensed taco-delivering pomeranian, though.
